Mamahhh Birth Necklace

My birthing necklace is a sacred treasure from my daughter’s birth. The necklace is made from the stones, gems, and charms given by my circle of women friends and guides. Having that necklace present during birth, I felt so connected to their hopes and dreams for me. That circle of stones also helped me feel connected to the grand circle of women who have birthed through the ages—the grandmothers of our grandmothers. Mama, Can You Imagine 12 Hours of Self-Care?

6-3-2013 A mama-friend shared with me that her child's Waldorf school recently sent home a little love note for parents. It said that moms and dads need at least 12 hours of self-care per week. I have no idea if that's at all evidence-based, but it has me feeling alternately intrigued and overwhelmed! Off the top of my head, I can think of 4 to 5 hours of self-care that I feel pretty sure I'll get each week ... a favorite weekly yoga class, including the drive time. 6-1-2013 Happy June, y'all! With the end of the school year, tornadoes pummeling my hometown, and a bunch of eclipses, May has been filled with big feelings.
